The aim of each story is to provide the opportunity to think and wonder about what the events narrated in the Bible could have been like. This story contains themes of death and loss, poverty and the threat of slavery. It also explores themes of God’s goodness, His miraculous provision, and Elisha the prophet. The story has been written for 7-12 year olds to read. A wider age-group of listeners would enjoy the story and be able to respond to the questions when guided by an older leader or family member. This booklet has also been used as a conversation starter and storytelling device in hospital, aged care and chaplaincy contexts.
